CHANGE
We need to change our thoughts each day
Slowly but gradually all the way
Observe all these patterns that are all around,
So we can prosper and be found.
We wouldn’t be here on planet earth,
If our feet were not planted firmly on dirt,
This land we live, with fertile soil,
We plant our crops, and reap our toil.
Creatures are adapting to their home,
Wherever they may choose to roam,
But land becomes scarce when we destroy,
History has shown this human ploy.
Red dusty deserts become more bare,
And food once plentiful even more rare,
And where we once had life-giving rain,
Now it over floods, and there’s no more to gain.
Even our oceans once upon a time so clean,
We’ve taken away that deep blue sheen,
And the skies, the flutter of wings through the air,
We hear less and less, the chirp of birds everywhere.
We humans possess all the power,
To change the clock to that earthly hour,
Where all creatures and birds are heard so clear,
Like nature intended to the listening ear.

DRIVE MY CAR
Wherever we go, we follow the flow,
It’s much easier you know,
To get in a car,
That takes us so far,
From A then to B,
But we all fail to see,
What impact this has,
When in peak hour traffic,
We are far from being free,
As everything stops,
And emissions come out,
And we simply can’t breathe.
Now do we think twice,
That this is not nice,
And sitting in my car,
Hey I’m not getting far,
While everything crawls,
And all is so slow
Best thing to do,
Is use common sense,
Avoid busy time,
And becoming so tense,
To give earth a break,
From suffocating gas,
Deliberated by mass,
That give little attention,
And may I just mention,
That this is not fair,
To all that dare,
To admit and say,
There is plenty of air.
Besides they say,
I don’t care,
Everyone else is driving,
And all still is thriving,
All seems fine,
If I am stuck at nine,
Like sheep I will follow,
And very slowly,
Get to my destination.
Let’s really smarten up,
And make life more fun,
Get on a bike,
Or go for a run,
Or choose the right time,
And drive your car,
To make it go far,
And have less impact
On our environment,
And of course the atmosphere,
And if you are caught,
In traffic that’s not naught,
Instead of sitting there,
With your engine on,
At least switch it off,
And don’t despair,
You will at least save some petrol.

GLOBAL WARMING
The earth is getting warmer and hotter each year,
Perhaps global warming is finally here,
The sun beaming down scorches our plant life,
And all living organisms feel the strife.
Oh where are those cool spring days in place,
We once had regular in full pace,
Now sometimes in the crack of dawn,
The heat lights up and scorches the lawn.
The trees should grow freely in all their splendour,
The flowers and fruit which bear food have its agenda,
We can’t have our life giver the sun being far too hot,
And make it unbearable for all the lot.
It’s time to go under shade and make a stand,
Precautionary measure for the body at hand,
At least we will be protected from the harmful rays,
Wearing good clothes, hat, screen, on these hot days.

NATURES BEAUTY
Are we awake and feel free,
While watching the glorious bumble bee,
Go from flower to flower,
Even during a short sun shower,
Nature is in full swing dance,
Take a look with one swift glance,
Laughing children that go by,
And birds that fly free so high,
The landscape before me,
The blue skies above me,
Does anyone think,
Does anyone care,
My eyes are glued to,
Natures purple fragile beauty,
Yet what I see is the vacuum,
Of smoked filled sky,
Factories so inconsiderate,
Continue to produce,
Broken bottles and trash,
Debris blocking the drains,
Absolutely nothing to gain,
Bring down the rain,
And clear the sodden plain.

THE MESSAGE
Plastic bags blowing in the wind,
Finding their way to oceans and streams,
And all sea life destined for doom,
Not leaving anything to bloom.
Look in the distance,
Observe the trees,
Watch the leaves fall in the breeze,
As all dries up,
And the heat is on,
Nature is asking. What’s going on?
Plastic bottles and broken glass,
Plenty of rubbish tossed on the grass,
Cars emitting gases and fuels,
Earth recipient of polluting fumes.
Mankind moving quick and fast,
But forgetting that this won’t last,
As nature moves and often speaks,
Temperatures rising, and ice that leaks.
There has to be something we all can do,
To give the message to all around you,
Of this problem we have in our hand,
Can cause the destruction of our land.
